SUMMARY:WFDA Winter Field Day
DESCRIPTION:Winter Field Day is an exciting annual event for amateur radio enthusiasts\, taking place on the last full weekend of January. The event is organized by the Winter Field Day Association passionately believe that Ham radio operators should practice portable emergency communications in winter environments as the potential for freezing temperatures\, snow\, ice\, and other hazards present unique operational concerns. WFD is formatted to help increase your level of preparedness for disasters and improve your operational skills in subpar conditions.  The 415 Amateur Radio Club will be participating in the event this year with two heated stations operating during the entire contest period. \n\n\n\nWe hope you’ll join us!!!\n\n\n\nThis event is open to everyone (with or without an amateur radio license). Get on the air on our voice\, digital\, or CW stations\, help set up antennas\, learn HAM radio skills\, or just join us for a meal and to talk radio.  Meals are pot-luck so please bring something to share. \n\n\n\nCheck out pictures from Winter Field Day last year  \n\n\n\nObjective:\n\n\n\n   WFD is a multi-objective event. The primary objective is to set up an amateur radio field station and successfully make multiple contacts. Successful participants are those who can set up their equipment and correctly log the designated exchange during the operational period explained below. All participants are encouraged to complete as many additional objectives as possible. After the event\, submit a log of stations worked and any additional documentation. \n\n\n\nSetup:\n\n\n\nStations may begin setting up no earlier than 1600 UTC (10 am CST) on the Friday before. DESCRIPTION:Field Day is ham radio’s open house. Every June\, more than 40\,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science\, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service\, emergency preparedness\, community outreach\, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933\, and remains the most popular event in ham radio. \n\n\n\nWe hope you’ll join us!!!\n\n\n\nThis event is open to everyone (with or without an amateur radio license). Get on the air on our voice\, digital\, or CW stations\, help set up antennas\, learn HAM radio skills\, or just join us for a meal and to talk radio.  Meals are pot-luck so please bring something to share. \n\n\n\nCheck out pictures from prior 415 Field Days \n\n\n\nObjective:\n\n\n\nTo work as many stations as possible on the 160-\, 80-\, 40-\, 20-\, 15-\, and 10-Meter HF bands\, as well asall bands 50 MHz and above\, and in doing so\, to learn to operate in abnormal situations in less-than-optimal conditions. A premium is placed on developing skills to meet the challenges of emergency preparedness\, as well asto acquaint the general public with the capabilities of Amateur Radio. \n\n\n\nSetup:\n\n\n\nStations who begin setting up before 1800 UTC Saturday may work only 24 consecutive hours\,commencing when on-the-air operations begin. \n\n\n\nNo class A or B station may begin its set-up earlier than 0000 UTC on the Friday (Thursday afternoonor evening local time) preceding the Field Day period. Cumulative set-up time shall not exceed a total of 24 hours. \n\n\n\nThe 415 will set up for the ARRL Field Day on Friday\, June 27th from 9:00 AM CDT until 5:00 PM CDT and the morning of Saturday\, June 28th. Such stations must be located in places that are not regular station locations and must notuse facilities installed for permanent station use\, or use any structure installed permanently for Field Day. A singlelicensee or trustee for the entry is responsible for the group entry. All equipment (including antennas) must liewithin a circle whose diameter does not exceed 300 meters (1000 feet). To be listed as Class A\, all contacts must bemade with transmitter(s) and receiver(s) operating independent of commercial power mains.
